Malaria Can Also Infect Animals
Malaria is a disease which is commonly found in humans, and is one of the oldest diseases causing severe illness at times. It transfers to a person by the bite of a mosquito which has got the infection from any other parasite, and therefore, completes its cycle of infection transformation by gnawing into the body. It mainly transfers to the blood by tainting red blood cells.
Lots of research has been done till now to find out the possible causes of malaria, its symptoms and the effective cure. Although, most of the scientists have worked on finding the causes and cures for human beings, but some researchers have found that this is one of those infections which can also affect animals severely.
It has been researched that gorillas are one of the animals which are badly affected by the malaria infection caused by the plasmodium parasite. Gorillas have been found to be contaminated by the P. falciparum, which is the most fatal type of malaria. This is the deadly type which might lead towards the death of a human being or animal ultimately.
Every animal has its own type of malaria, and studies have proved that the malaria found in animals cannot affect humans, and vice versa. However, if a mosquito which is not infected with malaria, bites a person who has got malaria, will become infected. Henceforth, mosquito bite is not the only cause of this disease, as its virus can also spread through the transfusion of malaria infected blood.
