As you know a wireless routers will able any users within the range of signal of the connection to be used freely if router do not have any password encrypted. You might not understand how important password’s are but it is. It will be best to always put a password or to change any default password the can easily be determined by other users.

Do not forget that security is a must especially to the internet world that can be hacked or can be accesses by anyone that can cause you more trouble when you least expected it. With Linksys routers, there are 2 passwords that you need to personalize and secure to make sure no other users can access your router.

Two passwords that you need to change or to put in place:

* linksys router default password
* SSID password

The first security password to change – the first password you need to change is the linksys router default password that is with the word “admin”. With this password is it very easy for others to access your linksys wireless router configuration and change it without your knowledge.

To change this, simply log in using the “admin” password and go to Administrator tab and look for the management tab. From here you will be asked for your new password. Also, do not forget to confirm your new password that will replace the Linksys router default password. Once done, log out and try out our new password and be ready for the next password to be set-up.

The second password in the SSID configuration- Since you have already changed the linksys router default password you should now focus in changing your SSID password that will be encrypted by your WEP.

Log in again just like the first step with your new password and connect to the internet. Choose SSDI as the service set identifier and change the password. Once done, you must encrypt using the WEP key. This will set your security password for the use of your internet connection from your router.

With the 2 password change you just did above, your router and your internet connection will not be accessed by anyone without your password.
